The SL Drive from Xotic Effects is a compact overdrive pedal designed to emulate the tones of the iconic Marshall Super Lead and Super Bass amplifiers from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Known in particular for their woody, organic and overdrive sounds, these amps have inspired generations of players. The SL Drive brings this iconic tone in a pedalboard-friendly package, with simple controls for volume, tone, and drive. An internal dip switch choose between Super Lead or Super Bass characteristics, so the SL Drive delivers a wide range of sounds for such a simple, small-footprint pedal.
The original Marshall amps have a an ability to maintain clarity and definition at high gain settings, and the SL Drive recreates the subtlety perfectly. This pedal is suitable for various musical styles, from blues and classic rock to modern high-gain genres. Its robust construction and high-quality components ensure durability and reliable performance. In practice, the SL Drive enhances your amp's natural tone, adding rich, harmonic complexity without overshadowing it. Whether used as a primary overdrive source or as a boost to push an amp over the edge, the SL Drive is an excellent choice that doesn't take up too much space on the floor.
This 2020s Xotic SL Drive is gently used, and the previous owner installed both sides of velcro on the bottom. It shows some minor scuffs and signs of use (see photos), but it's pretty clean all around. It functions 100% as it should, and it's a surprisingly versatile pedal with great sound throughout. It includes its original box and paperwork.
